The Rally begins tomorrow as you arrive in Calais, but the excitement and anticipation of a great adventure begins here along with meeting strangers who will become your good friends.
Day 1 Monday 23rd September
The Adventure Begins. Drivers: to your cars………… Navigators: SatNav’s updated. Europe will be conquered. The GT Rally begins driving on the right and heading South through France towards Bern in Switzerland …..
Day 2 Tuesday 24th September
Bern to Piz Gloria – Furka Pass – At least one magnificent Glacier – Andermatt – The longest pedestrian suspension bridge in the world – Golden Eye Dam and more.
Switzerland’s Beauty and Mountain Passes have a magnetic attraction. The roads are built with the precision of a Swiss Clock, scaling almost vertical cliff faces. ‘Top Gear’ marvelled at their height and amazing quality whilst speeding around the multiple death defying hairpin bends. Where else in the world do you actually marvel at the roads?
The Furka Pass
From this point on, it’s James Bond territory, the Dam from Golden Eye, The Petrol Station and the Furka Pass where Tilly (sister of the Gold Painted lady) Masterson’s Ford Mustang was cut up by the DB5’S Whirling Wing Nuts and James witnessed an assassination attempt on Goldfinger’s life on the Furka Pass, the revolving restaurant ‘Piz Gloria’ which became Blofelds secret fortess in ‘On Her Majesty’s Secret Service’, but mostly, it will be the mountain passes that will challenge you….the adventure starts on this day.
Paul Banks, our very own 007 jumping the ‘Golden Eye’ Dam, You can book to do this famous Bungee Jump too
The Golden Eye Dam
Just before James Bond’s DB5 ‘Skewers’ the Ford Mustang
These Amazing views are magnificent and who can claim to have seen the mighty Eiger from here?
The Restaurant at the ‘Top of the World’ – the setting for ‘On Her Majesty’s Secret Service
And if you’ve never seen a Glacier before, here’s your opportunity to witness the Majesty and Beauty of such a huge Ice Flow, and to wonder at it’s might from inside it’s blue interior.
Day 3 Wednesday 25th September
We leave Switzerland to join the Oktoberfest, but which way will you go?
1. Get up early and learn, and then captain a team of Huskies.
2. Drive through the ‘Top Gear’ iconic Stelvio Pass
3. Go through the Country of Liechtenstein and have your passport stamped here.
4. Austria to Bregenz and the shores of lake Constance where the most amazing opera house was ironically playing ‘Tosca’ and Mr Greene was meeting other senior Quantum agents, only to be rumbled by James Bond.
The Stelvio Pass
We continue onward to Bavaria. A 4 star bed for the night and the Munich Oktoberfest the next day.
Day 4 Thursday 26th September
The MUNICH OKTOBERFEST
A guaranteed table inside the Lowenbrau Marquee with food and drink…………you will experience the Munich Oktoberfest in the finest way possible.
These Bavarian lads and lasses know how to party………. every body is everybody’s friend, dancing on the tables and singing songs you actually know with half a chicken and 2 litres of lagar brought to you by serving wenches, YOU WILL REMEMBER THIS EXPERIENCE for your entire life.
Day 5 Friday 27th September
With fresh air blowing away the cobwebs from yesterdays celebrations, we head towards Luxembourg and the Formula One racing circuit of the Nurburgring, but on the way, you might want to call into the Porsche Museum or the Mercedes Museum.
The Porsche Museum ……all these beautiful cars
The Mercedes Museum ….. the cars don’t look real, but they are!!!
This evening is special and a night for celebration. This time it’s in recognition of all the many amazing things we’ve accomplished. Like all intrepid explorers, we have pushed the boundaries, we have scaled Europe’s highest rope bridge, explored the inside of a mighty Glacier and enjoyed the World Famous Munich Oktoberfest. What an amazing experience.
